Reasons Why Intelligent Pigging MarketWill Increase in Size by 2023
Intelligent pigging is a process wherein an inspection probe
called a smart pipeline inspection gauge (pig) is passed through a pipeline.
The probe collects the essential data within the pipeline. The data could be
about the location of corrosion and other anomalies in the inner walls of the
pipeline under inspection.

Pipeline
inspection providers have started providing software as a service (SaaS)
solutions to their customers. In October 2018, OneSoft Solutions announced that
its wholly-owned subsidiary, OneBridge Solutions, released the Cognitive
integrity Management SaaS solution, CIM 3.0, for commercial use. A few
operators are adopting a pigless approach by placing a series of fiber optic
sensors on the outside of pipelines. These sensors are employed to detect
stress, strains, and bends in pipelines.
The huge
amount of data that is generated by intelligent pigs after scanning pipelines
often takes months to analyze. The cloud-based technology software can reduce
data about the pressure, temperatures, rates of corrosion, and the geological
events by converting them into graphs, diagrams, and charts summarizing, which
may adversely affect pipeline safety.
Hence, the advances in pipeline inspection technologies will drive
the growth of the global
intelligent pigging market at a CAGR of 4.67% during the forecast period.
